CBAS overview

Carmeda® BioActive Surface (CBAS®) is the most clinically proven hemocompatible surface coating available on the market. The coating is designed to actively reduce thrombus formation—or clotting—on blood-contacting medical devices.

Many scientific papers, including clinical studies, have demonstrated the safety, efficacy, and superiority of CBAS. Numerous devices coated with CBAS are approved for marketing in Europe and the USA. The applications range from devices for short-term use to permanent implants.

CBAS mimics the only truly blood-compatible surface—the natural vessel wall. A stable covalent bonding of heparin to the surface by the proprietary End-point attachment™ ensures long-term bioactivity of the coating.
